A deeper hole

Notwithstanding the drubbing inflicted on the MAGA movement on election day, it appears from the initial statements from Trump and other MAGA representatives that they have no intention of adjusting (retreating from) their current unpopular and draconian policies.

That reminds me of someone who is in a hole as a result of their own doing who decides not to look for ways to extract themselves from that hole, but instead digs an even deeper one.

While they will pay a steep price for their intransigence in public opinon polls and at the ballot box a year from now, they also will, in the meantime, inflict even greater harm on tens of millions, immigrants in the first place.

As for the resistance movement, its charge in these difficult circumstances seems clear: to continue to broaden, deepen, and unite the people’s movement while resisting the punishing and unpopular actions of the Trump administration and the Republican controlled Congress.
